Alexandra Wakefield

Groomer

I arrived in Alberta in July 2020 and dove straight into the Western way of life! I kept busy working in Sundre for a trail horse outfit. Then, I headed to the prairies where I worked for a reigning horse boarding ranch in Madden until May 2021. I decided to make the mountains my home after volunteering for Alberta Parks in Canmore. Now, I am so happy to get back to my dog grooming career here in the Bow Valley.

I am originally from Durham, England where I studied dog bathing and styling at my local college in 2013. I continued on to get my City and Guilds (level 3) certification with the Groom Arts Academy in London. I successfully completed my Diploma for Dog Grooming Stylists in 2015. I have been grooming dogs ever since!

My favourite breed is the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, a native to Scotland. They are full of character. I was lucky enough to be a dog mom to an amazing DDT for six years. He helped me perfect my hand stripping and scissoring skills. We even attended Crufts on the Discover Dogs stand and made an appearance on British television on ITV’s Secret Life of Dogs.

When I’m not grooming terriers, I love to groom breed standard Cocker Spaniels. However, any dog that walks through the door where I can do creative hand scissoring is always fun!

I am excited to work for Bow River Veterinary Centre as their grooming stylist and help the dogs of Canmore look their very best!
