Microchipping machine

A microchip is a rice-sized chip that is inserted under the pet’s skin.  When scanned by a special microchip reader (that veterinary clinics and shelters have), it will read a unique number. This number is linked to your pet’s information on that microchip company’s database.

Why is it a good idea to microchip my dog/cat?

In the event that your pet gets lost or stolen and is brought to an animal shelter or veterinary clinic, the microchip will help you be reunited with your furry family member. Microchips are effective even if you are travelling with your pet in the U.S. or overseas.

How does microchipping work and is it safe for my dog/cat?

The microchip is inserted with a needle. It is usually placed underneath the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. When possible, we recommend placement of the microchip when your pet is anesthetized for its spay, neuter or otherwise.
